On July 27th, 2018 at approximately 6:46 am, Amity Police responded to a hit and run motor vehicle crash just discovered. The owner reported a vehicle struck two large brick pillars at the end of his driveway. Responding officers discovered a large amount of debris that was scattered across the driveway to the victim as well as onto Limekiln Road. There were several pieces of car parts that were collected including a Toyota Emblem, the insulation part to a front bumper, a gray/silver plastic piece of a car and possibly a bushing to a radiator. Video surveillance is being collected from residences and businesses in the area. Investigators learned the parts belong to a older motel Toyota Corolla and the vehicle is possible silver or gray. The vehicle should have front end damage and possibly missing the front bumper. The pillars contained a video surveillance system and mailbox. A review of video surveillance indicates the crash occurred just before midnight on July 26, 2018. The vehicle was last seen traveling South on Limekiln Rd towards 422 by Island Pizza.
