 MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH

On Thursday, January 31, 2019, at approximately 1210 hours, Amity Township Police Department along with Southern Berks EMS, Amity Fire/Rescue, and Monarch Fire Company, responded to the area of Ben Franklin Highway (Rt. 422) and Limekiln Road for a reported motor vehicle crash with entrapment. First Responders arrived to find a Hyundai SUV that drove into a building. The driver and only occupant of the vehicle, a 72-year female from Exeter Township, was unresponsive inside the vehicle and was rapidly extricated by EMS and Fire personnel. Southern Berks EMS transported the driver to Reading Hospital for unknown injuries. The building had extensive structural damage. The Boyertown Area Fire/Rescue Structural Collapse Unit responded to assist secure the building prior to the vehicle being pulled from the building and towed from the scene. 

Preliminary investigation determined the vehicle was traveling E/B on Rt. 422 and for an unknown reason, drove off the road, struck a utility pole, drove through a field, across both lanes of Monocacy Creek Road, struck a small embankment, became airborne and landing into the building. 

In addition to the Amity Township Police Department, Southern Berks EMS, Amity Fire/Rescue, Monarch Fire Company, Boyertown Area Fire/Rescue Structural Collapse Unit, and Harners Auto Body Assisted.
