On April 8th at 1212 hours, police were summoned to the Holiday Inn for a report of a disorderly male in the lobby possibly on drugs and acting out. While enroute officers were notified the male was screaming for help. Police arrived and encountered the male who appeared to be suffering from an overdose on a narcotic. They attempted to have the male exit the lobby and speak with them, but he refused and began to become belligerent. Officers tried to control the male and he began fighting with them, kicking them, head butting them and flailing around. The male was tased and eventually strapped to an EMS stretcher to control him and stop him from hurt himself and others. The male was identified as Derryck LOTT of Reading and transported to the Reading Hospital Medical Center for treatment. The Berks County Sheriff's Department was called to guard the prisoner until he was medically cleared to be taken before a judge for charges of Aggravated Assault on Police, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct, Harassment and Public Drunkenness.
