We are getting reports of a bear in the area of Greshville Rd and Reading Ave. If you see the bear please do not approach it. There have been reports of it attacking dogs in the area. Please keep an eye your children and pets. Please contact 911 and we will coordinate with the Game Commission on the best avenue to deal with the animal.
The Douglass Township Police are receiving numerous reports and have multiple units in the area of Grist Mill Rd near Ironstone Park for what appears to be a heavy-set gentleman with a beard, flying on some type of sleigh. He was last spotted hundreds of feet above the neighborhood. We have several calls for excessive noise in the area (intermittent sounds of bells) and someone on rooftops. Children in Douglass Township are advised, if they haven’t already to get the cookies and milk out for Santa. And then head straight to bed.
The Department apologizes for any confusion related to yesterday's post relating to the search for David Banos. Banos went missing between 11/15/2021, and the morning of 11/16/2021. David Banos, a 68-year-old white male, went missing from his address on Old Philadelphia Pike. Yesterday, Wednesday, November 17th, the Douglass Township Police with the assistance of Reading Search and Rescue and local volunteer services conducted a search along Old Philadelphia Pike. The railroad was searched along with the Schuylkill River Trail.
A search is being coordinated for a missing person in the area of Old Philadelphia Pike between River Bridge Rd and Grosstown Rd. Staging point will be 343 Old Philadelphia Pike. While on their way to Edgehill Rd another tree fell on Poplar Rd completely blocking traffic. That tree was removed and roadway opened. The road crew is now on location on Edge Hill Rd and the roadway should be opened to traffic within the hour.
