Property owners downstream from the Green Hills Lake Dam to approximately the intersection of Route 568 (Green Hills Rd.) and White Bear Rd. are advised to be alert for possible direction related to the condition of the dam. County, State and local officials met this evening after being advised of some damage discovered in the concrete of the dam spillway.
The dam owner's engineer is engaged, and there is not a belief that there is an imminent threat. Robeson Township emergency services personnel will be making contact with occupants of a small number of residences that would be expected to be impacted if there would be a dam failure to ensure they are alerted to this information.
During daylight tomorrow, an engineer from DEP will more fully assess the conditions, and further guidance/information will be offered in consultation with Robeson Township officials.
If conditions should dictate the need to issue emergency orders, please follow the direction of local public safety officials. Such orders would be issued using the Emergency Alert System and local route alerting by fire and police officials using sirens and vehicle public address systems.
While no high flows are presently expected, this is a good opportunity to remind everyone to not enter moving water on foot or in a vehicle
