Police were called to Giant on Van Reed Road for a retail theft that just occurred. On location, police spoke with the store employee, who had witnessed the suspect place items in the cart and attempt to leave the store without paying. The manager was able to stop the suspect, identified as Lynette Smith, and had her in the store's office. Police were given a copy of the video and a receipt for the amount of the merchandise. Charges were filed against the suspect.
