To our residents, especially our senior residents, please be aware of strangers coming to your house and asking to come inside for any reason. On Friday May 20, 2016 we received two separate calls from two senior ladies, both in their late 80's. In one incident which occurred in the 300 block of Brevity Ln., a white female approximately 35-40, 5'3" tall, thin build with brown hair wearing slacks, came to a residence claiming to be looking for a house for her grandmother to move into. The actor claimed there was a house nearby for sale however there are no houses in the immediate area for sale. The female asked to use the victims phone. The resident allowed the female into her kitchen to use the phone. She was on the phone approximately 3 minutes and in the residence for 10 minutes total. We did not receive this information from the victim until 2 hours after it occurred. We searched the residence with the victim and it appears nothing was taken at this time. In the second incident, which occurred in the 2200 block of Garfield Ave. a female, described as 5' tall, thin in her mid to late 20's and either white or light skinned Hispanic with long brown hair entered the residence asking for a drink of water. She stated that she had just taken a pill and need some water. The female claimed to live 3 doors up the street, which she did not. She sat a the victims kitchen table and asked her about her medication which was on the table. The victim told her that the medication was not her concern. The actor then asked if she could hide money in her house because her boyfriend takes her money and asked where the victim would hide her money. The victim stated she did not have money so had so reason to hide it. The actor was in the house a total of 30 minutes and was always in sight of the victim. Again we were not called in a timely manner and were not able to locate this female. We searched the house with the victim and it does not appear anything was missing at this time. We are asking that if anyone you do not know comes to your house do not let them in! If you are a neighbor of a senior citizen please keep an eye out and call us if you see anything suspicious. Many times criminals will work in pairs and while you are distracted in another area of the house a second person will sneak in a burglarize the house. They could also be gathering information for a future burglary attempt. Please remain vigilant and call immediately if you witness any suspicious activity like this.
