On June 29, 2021 at approximately 10:00 PM, a WRPD Officer was dispatched to investigate a report of a theft from a parked, motor vehicle. The vehicle was found to have been parked in a resident's driveway in the rear of the 500 block of Franklin Street. The victim advised that a firearm and holster had been taken from the vehicle between 6/28/21 and 6/29/21. After the initial Officer gathered information and began the preliminary investigation, the WRPD Criminal Investigations Division (CID) was assigned the case. As the WRPD CID continued the investigation, they developed a suspect of the theft and later identified that suspect as Gary David HENDRICKS. After HENDRICKS was identified as a suspect in this theft he was located with the assistance of another PD and taken into custody on an unrelated matter. A WRPD Criminal Investigator then interviewed HENDRICKS and, ultimately, HENDRICKS confessed to the theft of the firearm and holster. The value of the stolen items was found to be approximately $420.00. A warrant was signed and the listed charges were filed against HENDRICKS.
