GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS: This application consists of several sections: a questionnaire; a Notification Procedure Release; a Waiver and Release for Background Investigation; and a Description of Essential Job Functions. Each one of these sections must be completed in order for the Borough of West Reading to accept the application as complete. Print (do not type) an answer to each question. Applications may be picked up at the West Reading Borough Hall located at 500 Chestnut Street, West Reading, PA 19611 or online at starting Friday, June 7th, 2019 at 9:00 AM.  Applications can be dropped off in person at the West Reading Borough Hall and will also be accepted vis US Mail.  The application deadline is Wednesday, July 3rd , 2019 by 4:00 PM.  West Reading Borough assumes no responsibility for the the timeliness or confirmation of delivery via US Mail.  The Borough Civil Service Commission will accept the first fifty (50) received completed applications for a written examination to be conducted on July 13, 2019 at 9:00 AM at the Borough of West Reading Fire Department located at 223 Playground Drive, West Reading, Pennsylvania. The doors for the examination will open at 8:30 AM and no one will be admitted after 9:00 AM. Applicants must produce a valid photo identification to participate in the examination.

Applicants achieving a written score of 70 or better and meeting the minimum qualifications for an entry level police officer in the Borough of West Reading will proceed to the physical agility examination on August 3, 2019, at the Reading Police Academy at Alvernia University, Physical Education Center (PEC), 400 Saint Bernardine Street Reading, Pennsylvania at 8:00 AM.
