Sacred Heart School DARE Pool Party

On Wednesday June 9, 2016, recent and past graduates from the West Reading Police/Sacred Heart School DARE program celebrated the 2016 graduation class at a party at the West Reading Pool. Students from grades 5 through 8 attended the celebration which included use of the pool, pool grounds and lunch. Although there was some rain and thunder, everyone involved made the most of the day.  Many thanks to the lifeguards and concession staff at the pool and to the West Reading Recreation Committee, for their assistance and cooperation in the planning of, and for hosting this great event.

We are extremely proud of our partnership with The Sacred Heart School, and we wish this year’s program graduates, and all DARE graduates a very happy and successful future.

We would also like to recognize Sacred Heart School teacher Bonnie Yusella, who has been instrumental to the success of the DARE program at the school since 1998. Mrs. Yusella has decided to retire from teaching, and during this year’s pool party, Sgt Joe Brown, who taught this year’s program, presented Mrs. Yusella with a plaque thanking her for her dedication on behalf of the WRPD. Mrs. Yusella’s dedication to her students, the DARE program and our community will not be forgotten. The Officers and Staff of the West Reading Police Department join with many others to congratulate Mrs. Yusella on an outstanding career and wish her happiness in her retirement.
