On April 19, 2021 at approximately 8:22PM, a WRPD Officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for violations of the PA motor vehicle code while in the area of Buttonwood Street and Delaney Traffic Circle. The Officer conducted an investigation and learned that the driver and only occupant of the vehicle, identified as Melix Alexander RODRIGUEZ, was found to have a suspended PA Driver's license. After further investigation, the vehicle RODRIGUEZ was operating was impounded. As the investigation continued, a search warrant was applied for, gained and executed on the vehicle RODRIGUEZ was operating at the time of the initial stop. The search of the vehicle yielded a small amount of marijuana and a firearm with live rounds in the cylinder. Further investigation revealed that the firearm was reported as stolen. RODRIGUEZ was also found not to have a permit to carry a concealed firearm and is also a person not to possess a firearm. An arrest warrant has been issued against RODRIGUEZ for the listed offenses.
