On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at approximately 5:20 PM, officers from the Wyomissing Police Department were dispatched to the rear of 1037 Bern Road following a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located a juvenile male who had sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.

The victim reported that he and two friends had just left The Works, located at 1109 Bern Road, when they were approached by two unidentified individuals. An altercation ensued, during which the victim was shot.

Officers administered first aid until EMS personnel from Western Berks Ambulance arrived on scene. The victim was then transported to Reading Hospital, where he is being treated for his injuries. He is expected to recover.

A coordinated search effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies—including the Wyomissing, West Reading, Spring Township, Exeter, Cumru, and Reading Police Departments, as well as the Pennsylvania State Police—was conducted in the area. Despite an extensive ground and aerial search, including the use of a PSP helicopter and an Exeter Police Department drone, the suspects were not located. Train traffic in the vicinity was temporarily suspended while the nearby railroad tracks were searched.

At this time, the Wyomissing Police Department does not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public. However, we are seeking the community’s assistance in identifying and locating the suspects involved in this incident.
