During the November 2023 Council meeting, Western Berks EMS provided Council and the public with a brief presentation regarding the Municipal Membership Plan. Participation by municipalities in the aforementioned plan eliminates residents from having to enroll into individual EMS memberships, and would eliminate balance billing after insurance is applied. The membership includes all adults and children permanently residing within your household, emergency ambulance services, and up to three lift assists. A Wyomissing resident is also covered if traveling to another municipality serviced by Western Berks EMS. Individual memberships would no longer be offered to residents in areas covered by the Municipal Membership program, and any checks received for individual memberships would be refunded to the member. Donations from residents and business owners would still be accepted under this model, as often people donate to thank EMS for their care, or to support the overall EMS agency.

Based on the positive impact to support both residents and local EMS agency, Council approved for advertisement within the 2024 Budget, to enhance their contribution to Western Berks EMS from a donation to the Municipal Membership Plan.
