The West Reading Borough Council and Police Department recently recognized a few of their officers for outstanding work.  They also recognized two Wyomissing officers, Matthew Cavallo and Samuel Bryant, because of their actions during an assist to the West Reading Police Department in December of 2021.  The West Reading Police were pursuing a vehicle that contained a subject wanted for murder in Philadelphia.  The vehicle crashed and the subject ran off on foot.  Officer’s Cavallo and Bryant observed the subject and began a foot pursuit, eventually taking him into custody.  The subject was found to have a loaded handgun with an extended magazine in the vehicle he was operating.  I would like to thank the Borough Council of West Reading and the West Reading Police Department for recognizing our officers, it was not something that they needed to do, but it is greatly appreciated.  I know that the cooperation between our two agencies will continue to keep our two communities a safe place to live, work and play.
