Yesterday, Cpl. Alex Doelp and SRO Mitchell Cole from SHPD, along with Criminal Investigator Karie Good of West Reading PD, participated in Conrad Weiser Middle School’s annual Career Day. Officers created mock DUI traffic stops where officers demonstrated field sobriety tests. Students had the opportunity to try to perform the tests while wearing impairment goggles, which simulate the vision of a person who is under the influence of alcohol or narcotics. Students also received a lecture on the negative consequences of sexting, vaping, and distracted driving (The Paul Miller Law).
A great opportunity to provide career information and discuss crime prevention to our local adolescents. Go Scouts!
