The South Heidelberg Township Board of Commissioners have approved hiring Rosalyn Valerio to the position of full-time police officer. Officer Valerio may be a familiar face to some residents. As an Alvernia University student majoring in Criminal Justice, Officer Valerio completed an internship with SHPD in the spring of 2024. After graduating from Alvernia University with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, and minoring in Pre-Law & Political Science, Officer Valerio applied to and was accepted at the Reading Police Academy. Over a 24-week period, which encompassed 919 hours of coursework, Officer Valerio obtained her PA Act 120, which certifies her as a municipal police officer in Pennsylvania.
SHPD is very excited to have Officer Valerio join our team. Officer Valerio has shown she is a hard worker, goal driven and community minded. For the next couple of months, Officer Valerio will be assigned to our Department’s field training officers as she learns more about SHPD’s mission, goals, and our community. Please join us in welcoming Officer Rosalyn Valerio to SHPD and the communities we serve.
