Police Activity at Wilson High School

On Friday, 2/24/23, at approximately 8:30AM, the Spring Township Police Department was dispatched to a possible active shooter within Wilson High School. Officers arrived within minutes. A perimeter was set up and an immediate search began for any suspects or victims. The school was placed in lockdown and communication was sent districtwide to all Wilson families. A massive police presence arrived at the campus from across Berks County. Very quickly, it was determined that the call originated from outside of the building and it appeared to be a hoax. Once the school was deemed to be safe, the lockdown was lifted and the school administration decided to dismiss all students early from the high school campus. At this point, the incident is actively being investigated by law enforcement. There is no further threat to the school at this time. We would like to thank all emergency responders for their swift response to the scene to assist as well as the school’s administration, staff, and students. Finally, we’d like to thank the community for remaining calm and allowing the incident to be handled by law enforcement and the school staff.
