The West Reading Police Department provides protection to an area of about 1 square miles, located west of the City of Reading. Approximately 4,500 people call West Reading Borough home.

The West Reading Police Department is a full service Law Enforcement Agency, providing police coverage to the Borough 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Department currently has 12 full time Officers. The majority of our Officers serve in the Patrol Division, comprised of 2 patrol squads, each commanded by a Sergeant. The WRPD also offers a full time investigative division, comprised of 2 full time Criminal Investigators. The Department also has a full and part time administrative aide.

Officers of the WRPD are also assigned or participate in multijurisdictional functions such as the Berks County Emergency Response Team, the District Attorney’s Office Narcotics and Major Case Task Force Team.

We are also proud to welcome the newest member of the WRPD, K-9 Zea, who just began serving West Reading Borough at the end of November 2019.
