The West Reading Borough Police Department has four police bicycles which are utilized by our certified bicycle patrol Officers.  The “bike patrol” allows the Officers to get out of their police vehicles and interact with the public more closely.  It is also a great tool for the Officers to patrol with these bikes because they can move about the borough in a quieter fashion which adds the element of surprise to their approach when investigating and/or responding to reports of potential criminal activity.  Our patrol bicycles are also a great tool for getting around the Borough streets during parades, festivals or other activities where the streets may be closed off to vehicular traffic.
