Multiple Reported Vehicle Break-Ins!

Attention Residents:  Recently we have had reports of theft from vehicles and/or attempted theft from vehicles in our neighborhoods; specifically the South East Side of West Reading Borough.  If anyone in West Reading Borough saw anything suspicious overnight or possibly has video we encourage you to contact us at (610) 373-0111.

As always, we will be out, proactively patrolling the streets both day and night, but we need your assistance in helping to protect your property and identifying potential thieves: Keep your vehicle doors locked at all times. Do not leave your vehicle unattended while running. Always roll up your windows completely when away from it. If able; install car alarm systems. Do not store important personal documents in your vehicle. Do not keep valuables stored in your vehicle. Report anything suspicious in your neighborhood by calling (610) 373-0111.  Do not approach strangers and/or potential suspects, but rather, call us and we will respond and take appropriate action.

As requested in a previous post, we are asking that if you have a camera/video system (whether that be from a home security system, video doorbell, etc.), you read and follow the below to assist us:

Announcing our new Camera Registry Form for West Reading Borough residents and businesses. Often, a crime will occur that may have been caught on camera. In an effort to make our investigations more efficient we are looking to collaborate with you to assist us solve crimes.  We are asking that residents and business owners register their cameras (whether that be a security camera, "doorbell" camera, etc.) By participating in this voluntary program, you are helping the West Reading Police Department swiftly locate nearby cameras that may be able to aide with active investigations and most importantly help deter crimes from occurring within our community. Your submissions are kept confidential and only local law enforcement agencies can access the information. When needed, the West Reading Police Department may contact you to request a copy of your video recordings that could be relevant to an investigation. At no time will law enforcement have access your live feed or secured video without authorization. We are hoping this partnership helps us solve more crime and assists in making our community just a little safer.  Thank you in advance to all who choose to participate!
